THE CLOSET

from SUMMERSET TALES
Love is a Battlefield.
Who will get out of it alive?

Harry Duncan Wood runs a hotel in the historic city of Bath with his beautiful young wife.  When he falls in love with Mill House, an old greystone farmhouse on the banks of river Avon among the soaring hills of Somerset, and sets about moving his family there, the first appearances of the cracks in the marriage take him by surprise.  Is his wife seeing another man?  Duncan needs to get to the bottom of the affairs for his own sanity.  Sometimes, however, ignorance is bliss and will also keep everybody alive.

The Reckless Engineer . . . is a very intricately plotted story which is expertly executed.  I got engrossed in the story hook, line and sinker.

"The Reckless Engineer" by Jac Wright is one of the most provocative and intriguing murder mysteries I have read in a long time.

Jac Wright’s poetic background comes through in this book. This book truly weaves the story around you until you can’t stop until you have all the answers!

The characterization is admirable and the characters vivid and each one as different as the day from the night.

A John Grisham techno thriller!

There is a big spectra of different characters from different layers of society . . . which adds to the story.

Jac's novel that revolves around highly qualified electrical engineers works beautifully.  The novel moved at a nice pace and didn’t feel weighed down with technical jargon. The more I read, the more I became interested in what these engineers do professionally, in addition to whom they were killing.

How could I have missed it? How could I be so blind? The signs were all there. I should have known. I should have been able to figure it out. Kudos to you Mr. Wright, you slipped one past me.

I enjoyed the thrill of the hunt and the twists and turns taking place at the turn of the page! It's fascinating to see the changes in characters so much so that I was never really sure of the guilty party. . . If you put it down you were left wondering what happened to Jeremy and the other characters. Excellent read and very enjoyable! This author is on the rise and writes very well!

After a detailed introduction, a paced story full of twists and turns will start, making this novel a well-made suspense work.

The story had a wide variety of characters, and in many respects I would classify this as an old fashioned mystery. I enjoyed seeing this author's passionate connection to classic literature appearing in his writing style of this story.

Not ingenuity of the plot only, but also this book has the tempo that is projected on the contemporary real and active society.

Great plot enjoyed the descriptive scenery and loved Jeremy! Definitely could not do without a friend like him.

Its story is set in the world of the rich industrialists and engineers, which isn't a common setting for thrillers making it therefore different and interesting compared to many other works in the genre.  Except that the author convincingly dealt with the novel's theme, he created compelling characters from this world of rich people, making some characters look like they were written based on actual people that would be interesting to check with the author if it's true.

“Everything is fresh and original–the premise, the plot, the characters, the language, the imagery... everything. Nothing about this author’s writing is cliché.

Jac does an excellent job in building the characters and describing the locales, that you will be totally immersed in the story by chapter two! So, be prepared to read this story ALL the way through in one sitting, as you will NOT want to put it down once you start! AND when you finish you will be wanting to know MORE about Jac and his buddies! This book is a wonderful start to a new series, that I'm sure Jac will be writing!

At the price it's currently selling for, it's definitely a steal. I look forward to future works by Mr. Wright.

This gripping short, set to be a series of venue shorts of the people in the town of Summerset is beautifully written with clever descriptions, common concerns and one overwhelming why. Jac Wright is obviously facile with words, and appreciates the rhythm that can be found in a poetically phrased sentence.

This is a phenomenal short story... I did not want it to end. Glad I found this author and will be looking for more.

What a rush! The ending was so exciting and exhilarating. I WANT MORE!!!!!

Clearly, the author is a poet. THE CLOSET transports the reader to a lonely farmhouse where animals stand as structures, and Duncan is soaking wet from the rain. Mr. Wright draws the reader into the scene with very distinct atmospheric prose that I've seen mostly in poetry.

I loved this story. It is so cleverly written, gut wrenching, and 'the end'...well let's just say "Twilight Zone".

This story has a lot of intrigue and twist to it. … I give this story a 20 star rating and then some. The scenes, plot, and the characters come alive!!! You feel like you are right there with Harold and Carrie. Jac Wright has done an Amazing job with this story!!!

Jac Wright's The Closet (Summerset Tales) is a powerful and gripping short story that completely captivates and draws you in from the very first page to the unexpected and dramatic last one.

This short story was both lyrical and colorfully descriptive allowing the reader to become immersed in the charming countryside setting. Then, the author goes to the dark side revealing a frightening agenda...

From the very beginning its interesting and vivid, Lord I could see everything so clearly as if I was there. It didn't unravel quite how I thought either and I always love a good surprise.

This short story had me "on edge" from the very beginning. I couldn't wait to see what was coming next.
